Torquay Torre

The initial proposals for this scheme designed for McCarthy & Stone, in the Torre area of Torquay, consisted of 75 Assisted Living apartments; however, the scheme was revised in 2012 to show 25 Retirement Living apartments and 50 Assisted Living apartments.  The positioning of the building on a restricted triangular shape site makes logical use of the land available and allows the building to address the adjacent public spaces, as well as respond to the level changes across the site.  The limited site area called for undercroft parking at ground floor level, while the main communal spaces for the Assisted Living part of the development occupy the remainder of the ground floor space.  Both communal and private external spaces are also provided on three separate roof terraces of the building.
