Art Block Refurbishment

Occupying a part of the original stable block to the Mansion House, the Art Block is of heritage significance and sits adjacent to two listed cottages. The design brief requirement was to re-model and re-plan the interior to create new improved gallery and studio spaces.  The design seeks to rationalize entry into the faculty, bringing light and drama into the interior spaces.  Relocation of the existing staircase and reassignment of certain spaces to new activities, as well as extensive remodeling of the upper ground floor, optimizes potential for a new art exhibition space and a greatly improved drawing studio.  Following positive consultation with Planning and Conservation Officers, the project was granted Planning & Listed Building consents in 2017.
