Stable Block Conversion
The part of the existing Stable Block & ancillary accommodation put forward for renovation and conversion into a dedicated Countryside Management & Equine Teaching facility, represents the first part of the School's Development Plan. Forming part of the historic Abbey Garden walls, the structure is of some significance in terms of heritage; hence the design solution had to meet both functional and conservation based criteria. The existing spaces withing this structure are to be upgraded to modern standards aided by the insertion of new cranked steel frames, upgraded roof structure and insulation of the building envelope. To the rear elevation, a new timber pergola brings life and interest whilst bearing reference to a previous lean-to conservatory structure. Following full engagement with Planning and Conservation Officers, a full Planning Consent and subsequent Building Regulations approval were granted in 2017.
